I’ve been a leader all my life.
I wouldn’t have dared to say that until this past weekend, when I was going through old papers and found a note from Miss Fogg on my first-grade report card (circa 197-something). She wrote that she looked forward to watching me continue to grow as a leader.

Thinking about it now, I don’t ever remember a time when I wasn’t called a leader. I’ve tried my hand at being a “good” leader. I dabbled, for a short season, in a more rebellious leader persona. Eventually, I settled into just being a leader—wherever I found myself.

Most of the time, being a leader meant I was given responsibility and trusted to get it done. Like somehow I instinctively knew what to do with twelve young adults for six weeks in India. Or how to manage communications for a startup nonprofit. Or how to write for a hospital newsletter.

Here’s something people don’t often realize about leaders:
We often became leaders in the first place because we were good at following rules and directions. We fit the expectations in a classroom, and because of that, we received the kudos and celebrations. But not a lot of extra support. Extra support goes to those who need it—or demand it.

When I began to question why I was leading—and if I even wanted to be in leadership—I realized there wasn’t much guidance available to help me become a leader that felt true to who I am. Sure, there were plenty of books and programs. I’ve enjoyed pulling bits and pieces from them. But I’ve yet to find a one-size-fits-all leadership model.

In Quadrant 3 Leadership Coach Certification (Q3LC), we take a different approach. We work through a Venn diagram of personal awareness that weaves together an individual’s story, their hardwiring, and their goals. We press into mission, values, and personal style. When we understand who and how we are, we can lead from our unique strengths and perspectives.

From that place, we offer coach-like leadership—to our teams and communities—that empowers others to live from a similar place of authenticity.

Leadership isn’t about power or prestige.
True leadership is about stewarding what we’ve been trusted with—and that stewardship starts with ourselves.

Yes, it’s possible to lead from the outside in—checking off tasks and managing connections. But I invite you to lead from the inside out—bringing your own brand of brilliance to the world.

Q3LC isn’t a one-size-fits-all model.
It’s a framework that helps you custom design the leadership life you were meant to live.
